KZNEIA attended the merSETA 2017 / 18 AGM on Friday 26th of October. Presenting to a full room, Acting Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Wayne Adams, was enthusiastic and complimentary of the 2018 grants process. The merSETA received an first time clean audit against the objectives for the first time in 18 years which he announced was a being “historic”.
Chief Financial Officer, Ms Disa Mjikelisa reported an unqualified over-all report when she presented the financial reports and analysis.
KZNEIA is represented on the merSETA Accounting Authority, by Melanie Mullholland, of SEIFSA.
Also of interest to all merSETA industry members, is the announcement that the 2nd phase of the new NSDMS system will be released in march 2018\9. Among the audience were some who expressed concern that this release would be “too soon” after the initial release of the system in 2018, however Mr Adams assured all that they have consulted and heeded the comments provided through the 2018 customer survey and confirmed that the system is being made more user-friendly. Major issues, such as those the registration process and the problematic .CSV uploads were at the top of the list of issues. Mr Adams reminded the audience that in the registration process is a once off and commented that next year, excel uploads will be replacing the .CSV uploads, making the process quicker and simpler for users.
Ms Lebogang Letsoalo provided further insight into the benefits of South Africa’s association with BRICS countries and the exciting opportunities for the country which this will bring. Ms Letsoalo also took the audience through the anticipated future landscape of SETA’s and how they are aiming to align more closely with industry.
