ITAC proposed amendments to the Scrap Price Preference system

Category: General
Date: 2 Jun 2016

Quick Briefs are intended to get an urgent message to members and/or get an urgent response from members. For this Brief we need both. There has recently been a need for numerous submissions on various proposed legislative changes and forums. At the NERSA hearings we confidently submitted an opposition to the Eskom request for increased tariffs to off-set their deficit in terms of the Eskom 2013/14 MYPD 3 Regulatory Clearing Account (RCA) Application

We are also currently working on a submission on changes to the NSDS and SETA landscape. In principle we agree that controls need to be tightened and more effective standardized systems implemented for NSDS and SETAs, however, we oppose the structure proposed in the white paper currently out for comment.

Please read and submit a response urgently if you have a position you want to have recorded

Deadline

The hot topic right now is ITAC proposed amendments to the Scrap Price Preference system. We are currently formulating a position obo member companies however, we have found that there are differing positions and before the Association makes formal comment we ask member companies to give us their views.

To date, opinions canvased have indicated that the membership of KZNEIA in general does not support these Amendments and that we need to make a submission opposing the proposed amendments.

With reference to GG39499 11 December 2015 – Proposed Amendments, attached, if have a position or comment you want taken into consideration and/or you disagree with a submission in opposition, please let us have your opinion as soon as possible. We ask that you let us have your comments by Wednesday 03 February. KZNEIA will draft it’s submission on Thursday 04 February for submission by the ITAC deadline of Friday 05 February 2016.

Kind regards
